About me

The cover photo on the blog  is a living shrine outside my kitchen door.   The cat statue belonged to my Mother.   It reminds me of her beloved feline Miss Daisey who lived to the ripe age of around 20.   She was an eccentric one and I loved her so much.    There is a water vessel made with rock.   Several times a day I pour fresh water into the vessel to freshen it and interact with my beloved outdoor pride.  It is also a place of remembrance for all those who have gone before.

I was a lover of all animals at a very early age, but cats always  held a special fascination for me.    In my youth growing up in rural Kentucky, I would spend Sundays going to my grandparents farm.   There I learned to catch feral barn cats and “gentle” them.   I went a long time in life without cats.  I lived in the city, earned more than one graduate degree and moved to Kansas 1986.  In the early 90’s I settled into life on a farm with a man in a little house on the prairie.   These are my stories of life past and present.

I live in the Flint Hills of Kansas and am a servant to the animal kingdom. This blog is a tribute to my feline pride.    My outdoor tiger tribe is protected to the best of my ability.   I have the knack for attracting feral cats   It is common to have at least one or two feral Toms show up in the course of a year.   I trap, neuter and release (TNR)  them.   In a short time I have cats that adore me.  Who says you can’t domesticate a feral cat?   If I win the lottery I will build a cat proof fence.   There are many perils to life in the country and these are my stories.
